Chinese Man Arrested for Stealing 500,000 Riel

Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: On December 16, 2019, at a concrete road in Meanchey District, Phnom Penh, the suspect, 53 year old Chinese male, WEI JIN YUN, was detained by the authorities for stealing 500,000 riel from the victim, Toun Khon, a 45-year-old Cambodian national.

The Cambodian man was driving to Phnom Penh from his home in Takeo, when he parked his white Hyundai car on the roadside and went to eat. He left his bag with the money inside the car. Then he saw two Chinese men on a motorbike who stopped next to the car and went to steal the money-bag.
The Cambodian man shouted to the officers of Stung Meanchey 1, who were patrolling near the scene, and they apprehended one suspect, WEI JINYUN, who is being questioned at Stung Meanchey Police Station I, while the other man, identified as ZHAO LIAN YU escaped on the motorbike.

On questioning the suspect, the police found that the Chinese national has no passport and no fixed address. He was detained by police to make a formal case.
