Post Office costs and delivery times, arrival

Post by daeum_tnaot »

Hi everyone,

I am considering sending a Christmas package to one or several of my family members. I've had some experience with the Post Office but it was mostly receiving packages.

Can anyone comment on the approximate cost of sending a package from Cambodia? Of course the cost also relates to the length of time they take to deliver it. I'm not talking about a large package but maybe 1-2 kilos.

And has everyone actually had their package arrive? Years ago I actually lost a package in Cambodia but think it's cause I didn't know I had to go pick it up at the Post Office.

Thank you for any input on this.

I think this is the kind of question only the person at the PO counter can answer. Plus, you haven't even said where you're sending it to.

I dont think the PO will get it there before xmas. I used to post a fair bit. Most of it got thru. it would usually take 10-30 days depending on the country but around xmas it often took 1 or 2 weeks more. the courier companies are a lot faster but cost a lot more

Probably depend on which country you are sending it to, but I sent a parcel from Cambodia to myself in Australia and it arrived at my PO box in 8 days.

On the other side, I am still waiting for a parcel to leave the SAN FRANCISCO CA INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER Tracking number says it has not left.

Hi, yes, I am not expecting it to get their by Xmas. I will probably order some other gifts online and then this will be something additional, and authentic, that has come all the way from Cambodia. If it gets there by the end of Jan or even mid-Feb that would be good. Sending to the US.

I'm not actually in Cambodia now, but if it seems reasonable, my partner will go to PP to send a gift. If it seems unreasonable, she will probably not bother going to PP.

That's funny, recently I sent a letter to the US, and every time I check tracking it says that there is no tracking within the US.

If you use a courier like UPS or DHL here, you might just make it before Xmas. I’m buying stuff from Amazon & other sites to deliver across Europe & a batch of stuff here for my son, it’s all arrived/arriving this week, usually within 5 days, some came in 2 days- I’d assume the reverse is equally possible time wise. That said a lot of Christmas rush means today/tomorrow are perhaps the last dates you can expect to send from here and get it there in time for Xmas.

If it's registered mail, from my experience the tracking stops after "place item in bag" so you never find out if it ever gets delivered. Use EMS instead, which should be faster and with proper tracking.
