If it was me I'd turn the brightness down..............the thing is, those kinda living conditions you just need to have an eye mask and noise cancelling headphones.
bit annoying but be prepared!!

Yes I did complain. Actually She suggested I move to a smaller and quieter dorm which I did and was happiest about.BrazilBoy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 6:20 pm I had a similar problem once when I was living in Taiwan. I was a long term resident of Taipei Hostel - it was cheap, centrally located and had a decent kitchen and I saved a ton on housing but there were a group of Korean travellers once that moved in for a month and they would come back at like 3 am and turn on the lights and make all kinds of noise - just rude and ignorant and loud bastards.
I complained to management and they eventually designated a dorm room where lights out at 12 am was strickly enforced. Try that; complain to management.
So the end result was good. Although prior to that I wasted my time trying to reason with the Israeli who started lying and behaving as if he owned the place, which led me to the boss

I'd probably be pissed off if somebody complained my screen was too bright. I'd probably suggest they looked in another direction, or put a blanket over their head.
It would be a different matter if, say, they were noisily typing, or playing media at volume.
Anyhow, just don't sleep in dorms.

Really, some people can sleep in dorms with stinky backpackers ?!
It would be more disturbing for me than any laptop !

Some of us don't have much cash yet the dorms I stayed in were mostly fine and clean. There's always some nutter though who is inconsiderate.
Laptops are bright and the wavelength is hard to ignore even with eye masks. I tried using my wooly hat but then I was uncomfortable.
Who needs to work at 3am anyhow. The idiot had all day but prefers when everyone is asleep or trying to. What a knob

Many people who do not have to sleep in dorms work anytime, night and day...

Make real good friends with that dark-haired bright-eyed hour-glass italian girl from the top bunk on the other side of the dorm. Real good friends.
Then simply bonk all night, with all the different sound effects just naturally letting free .
I promise you won't notice the laptop.
That's what we used to do back in good old hippy trail days anyway.
Not laptops of course, it was that f'ing old Isreali prick back when he was young - playing his f'ing bongos.

I think that is being a bit over sensitive Cpt.
Not saying all Italian girls are dark-haired, bright eyed and hour-glass either.
Just the ones you tend to remember.
