Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Cambodia Breaking News (Phnom Penh): On September 23, 2019, General lieutenant Seng Sovan, who worked as a Director of criminal police at Phnom Penh police station, committed suicide by shooting himself in the car, in Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh.

After questioning family and friends, it appears that the victim committed suicide because he had depression and also suffered from a physical disease. After the examination, the body was returned to his family for funeral preparation. RIP.

What happened to him? Why is the gun there? Very pitiful.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

A remarkably unquestioning set of responses on CEO so far.
- given the circumstances.

"Director of criminal police at Phnom Penh police station" - at what age?
So we know he was connected - and dealing with high level criminals every day? Goes with the job.
And there are some bent detectives in the squads too? - possibly.
Right in front of the cop shop - so there would have been lots of cops around too? Hmmm
In the back seat - so there could have others in the front seat too? Mmm maybe.
Gun just dropped in his lap? Hmmm...
Pizza may be our first choice for a final meal before saying the big goodbye - but probably would not be a cambodian's?? Hmmm...

Not sure how many 27 year old Directors of Criminal Police get so sad about life that the just quietly give up on it all.
'Not usually that type.
