apparently he entered malaysia on his french passport, and is not carrying his cambodian one.
will he try for a visa on arrival, or is he going back to get it?

He came on a tourist visa right ?
Only business visa or other professional visas require an exit permit to get out. And i suppose he wasn't coming to Indonesia for any official working reasons.

As there isn't any direct flights from Indonesia to Cambodia, what's the catch ?

I think there are now direct flights between Phnom Penh and Jakarta with Citilink. However, that's a low cost carrier and thus far below the standards of the Rainman.

He's probably making new excuses as to why he's not in Cambodia already.

JFC, when will everyone but Rainsy himself acknowledge that he's a clown, a charlatan, and an idiot?

And thus totally ignore him. (Oh wait, what did I just do here? Anyway you get my point.)

Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 16 – Former opposition leader Sam Rainsy has landed in France after he failed the 9/11 coup attempt to topple the Royal Government.

"I have landed at CDG airport in Paris," Rainsy tweeted on Saturday.

Rainsy had departed Indonesia for Paris, France, in the early morning of 16 November.
