Cambodia desperately needs life-saving stroke treatment

According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, strokes are the number one cause of death in Cambodia, claiming 153.9 lives per 100,000 people in 2017. By comparison, road traffic accidents claimed 11.3 lives per 100,000 in the same year.
In 55 per cent of cases, stroke patients develop a debilitating condition called dysphagia, which results in people struggling to swallow certain foods or liquids, while others can’t swallow at all. But despite the gravity of the condition for those who suffer from it, there are no qualified Cambodian professionals who can fully assess and treat it.
He explains that lacking appropriately skilled staff in Cambodia, the “management of dysphagia is basic, just using feeding tubes for example”.This situation means that many Cambodians may die as a result of their dysphagia, or are unnecessarily condemned to a life of having blended food fed to them via a tube through their nose or stomach.

It's still early enough for an emergency wishlist to the great and mighty big brother.
Just make sure the instructions are written in Khmer...

You could write for the SCMP and just skirt the edge of an organ harvest - it was fairly inscrutable.Ghostwriter wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 7:16 pm It's still early enough for an emergency wishlist to the great and mighty big brother.

Re: Cambodia desperately needs life-saving stroke treatment
Emergency stroke treatment would just need every Khmer Referral hospital to have ...
Glucometer.
EKG machine..
CT scanner...
TPA....
Glucose meters are $30-$70 on Amazon.
EKG machine is $500 (el cheaply $200) on Amazon
CT scanner .. thousands.
Qualified radiologist for immediate read .. a lot more
r-tPA ... $6400 cost. Total reimbursement $12000
Since it’s only the drug that treats the stroke (the other stuff is only to check that it isn’t a stroke treatable by altepase) and the drug costs more than a used car... it’s a pipe dream.
Oh yeah, and the drug is only effective from 3 hours of when the stroke happens.

Health and education. health and education health and
I can reconcile many many things here, even the destruction of the things i love,
far more than i can forgive the neglect of these two very basics.
After 40 years...
Highways, bridges, dams, Vattanak towers and the flash offices inside them are supposed to lift the basic standards,
not supplant them.
