Advice for a pump

OK We are the last holdouts to break down and consider buying it from a local rural robber Baron. So why this rush to modernity?

Answer: my wife's uncle, our nextdoor neighbor, who has both the skills and tools, is sick of fixing the same problem over and over. In fact he's just plain sick and has enough problems of his own.

So can I run a pump off his feed and if not what is the answer to my reoccurring problem i.e. the gasket which separates the water keeps on melting. So is there a hand-cranked model you can recommend? It like it's owners are beyond repair.

What kind of pump? A bilge pump? A well pump?

Since It's a pump in our well, I assume the latter. The well. Itself is hand dug. We stopped digging when we hit solid Rock @ around 12 meters..

If it was me I would use a bilge type of pump , as used on a boat as an example. This being 12 volt connect it straight to a solar panel and no battery is needed. Only disadvantage is it will not pump at night , but if it only pumps into a large container beside the well its no problem.

I seriously doubt that baby will be able to pump water from a 12 meter deep well (let's say the pump's at 11 meter) into a tank 3-4 meter above the ground.

I'd simply use a 1 HP submersible pump running on 220V.

That was an example of a pump , not the best pump for the job..

If the pump was sitting at the 11 m level it is physical pushing water from the surface level of the water in the well to the tank, the same as if the pump was sitting at just below the surface of the water.

But Yes ,, If taa has access to 220 v, then that would be better.

I thank you for your help. We, my wife 2 kids and myself, have a few problems that I would like to resolve before cancer comes knocking on the door looking for the rest of me. I want my wife to have an easier life once I am gone and my SS checks disappear as well.

You haven't said if 220 volt power is available for this pump . ?
