Vietnamese-Canadian LE HONG PHI Charged with Trafficking 1 Ton of Drugs, Extradited from Indonesia to Cambodia

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On November 1, 2019, Cambodian police collaborated with Indonesian police in the extradition of a Vietnamese-Canadian man, LE HONG PHI, from a prison in Indonesia to Phnom Penh International Airport, Cambodia.

The suspect has already been sentenced in Cambodia to life imprisonment for trafficking over 1 ton of drugs from Ecuador to Cambodia in 2016, by shipping via China. The report says that the shipment was seized in Shanghai, however, the suspect has been sentenced in Cambodia. The suspect has now been sent to the Phnom Penh court to execute the sentence.

Equador is not significant cocaine producer - it is a logistics hub.

Sth America is increasingly manufacturing meth for the US market.
Are they now also sending in to Europe, via Cambodia?
Or coke??

If that is happening in 1 ton loads, with either meth or coke, it marks a major shift/expansion in Cambodia's historical transhipment roles.

Does anybody have any more info on this ^^ particular operation/bust?

Agreed I stand corrected Stern- it's a strange case....
