Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 25 – Cambodian Prime Minister HE announced the minimum wage increase for civil servants, teachers, doctors, and armed forces in 2020, speaking in a cabinet meeting held at the Peace Palace on Friday.

The wage increase are as follows: (1) the increase from USD 275 to USD 293 for civil servants; (2) the increase from USD 300 to USD 318 for teacher and doctor; (3) the increase from USD 296 to USD 314 for national police (staff sergeant), and (4) the increase from USD 264 to USD 295 for military officer (first sergeant). In addition, the contractual officer's wage will also increase to USD167. These salary increases will be effective in 2020.

The Royal Government of Cambodia has put efforts to implement policies to improve the lives of civil servants, teachers, doctors, national police, soldiers and garment workers since the 5th mandate of the National Assembly,” said the premier.

He continued that the new sub-decree will determine that wage below 1.30 million Khmer Riel (USD 325) will not be taxed, effective from 2020.

It is worth recalling that in 2015, minimum wage ranging from 500,000-800,000 Khmer Riel were taxed; in 2017 it was amended to 800,000-1,000,000 Khmer Riel; then in 2018 amended to 1,000,000-1,200,000 Khmer Riel.

According to Prime Minister HE, by 2020, civil servants of the armed forces will have a minimum salary of USD 325.

I can see a few tuktuk drivers getting jealous and wanting to change their jobs.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
