Thai king has 2 wifes.

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

They covered this subject on the BBC news briefly last night - the downfall of the concubine - and as usual, the news anchor asked their BBC Thai specialist what to make of the information. It was painful to watch. He started with "As you know, in Thailand there are very strict lese-majeste laws..." and then he tried to say what he wanted to say, without mentioning the king or anything that might get him locked away.
It was actually quite a good example showing how freedom of expression is eroding in Thailand. You could see by his body language that the Thai guy was plainly uncomfortable, did not feel that he could speak freely, and was watching his words very carefully.

A picture is worth a thousand words. :head shot:

Or "Land of Cringe" maybe, it must be embarrassing having a leader who acts so unstatesmanlike.

The last line in The article states " Public criticism of the king or the royal family is illegal under Thailand’s strict lese majeste laws, with insults to the monarchy punishable by up to 15 years in prison. " This should explain why any of us that live in Thailand are reticent to express our opinions
