Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. By TTR WEEKLY -
August 8, 2019
BANGKOK, 8 August 2019: Following the renovation of one of Siem Reap’s iconic colonial buildings the historic FCC Mansion has reopened branded FCC Angkor managed by Avani Hotels & Resorts.

Located across from the Royal Independence Gardens and Royal Residence, FCC Angkor was once home to the French colonial governor and later on the Foreign Correspondents Club.

Once a favourite haunt for international journalists visiting the Cambodian capital, FCC Angkor reopened this week with a restored ‘Mansion’ restaurant, a newly built bar called ‘Scribe’ and 80 rooms and suites.

It is the first renovated heritage hotel within the FCC Collection, with sister property FCC Phnom Penh currently undergoing renovation and due to open November 2020.

A former governor's mansion and home base for countless news correspondents, the FCC Siem Reap is now a hotel for all.

Today, following an extensive renovation of one of Siem Reap's most treasured colonial sites, the historic FCC Mansion has reopened its doors as FCC Angkor, managed by Avani Hotels & Resorts.

Built in 1917, the Foreign Correspondents Club or FCC was formerly the French Governor's residence, during the waning days of colonial rule. Located across from the Royal Independence Gardens and Royal Residence, FCC Angkor was once home to the elegant mansion of the French colonial governor, as well as the renowned Foreign Correspondents' Club - a place that holds an abundance of history and is recognized as a popular meeting place for international journalists, celebrities and travelers from around the world.

Seamlessly blending traditional with contemporary, the areas surrounding the mansion boast understated yet respectful and effective touches, including a garden-surrounded lobby and a bridge connecting the historic mansion to a newly-built event space. Throughout the property, modern touches upgrade the existing building, whilst the new structures have design features that echo The Mansion's classic lines.

I was told by a friend who knows John that he has left Cambodia and returned to the US - he was looking for someone to take over the gallery space 10 to 12 months ago, not as a going concern but as a replacement but there were no takers at the time and I don't know what has happened after the refurb
