Hey BB, or anyone else - an unrelated question if i may..
About 10-12 years ago they changed the law regarding ownership of buildings on land when it was sold.
My recollection is that the new law stated any structures were now the property of the new land owner, and so could not be dismantled and carried away. (unless other arrangements were specifically contracted)
Is this correct?

You can specify what shall happen to the landed property on the contract.

Thanks Basta.
And if not specified, presumably it is then owned by the new land owner.

I think previously, the default position was that the old land holder could remove any structures.

The tenant can remove them before the end of the contract of land rental.

According to Cambodian law, the court will fine the landlord to pay you the profit of remaining years in the agreement.

And, as everybody knows, Cambodian law is always upheld and strictly followed, especially when barang are involved...

And if you are still here 2 years later when it gets to court and have paid a lawyer twice what you are trying to claim. Fact is numerous barang have been kicked out of their leases to make way for Chinese paying more money. None have ever got compensation, and non ever will. it is a waste of time trying to set up anywhere the chinese are
