Re: Australian drug smuggler sentenced to 23 years in Cambodian
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A French woman, CHARLENE SAVARINO , who was charged with smuggling drugs in 2013, at the age of 19, and sentenced to 25 years imprisonment, has been deported back to France.
The 5 suspects who were involved in the drug smuggling ring were identified as:
1. NWOKO PRECIOUS CHINEME, a 23-year-old Nigerian man, sentenced to 27 years imprisonment and 80 million riel penalty.
2. SAVARINO CHARLENE, a 19-year-old (at the time of arrest )French woman, sentenced to 25 years imprisonment and 50 million riel penalty.
3. TAYLOR YOSHE ANN, a 41-year-old Australian woman, sentenced to 23 years imprisonment and 80 million riel penalty.
4. OJUKWU TOJUKWO MATINS, a Nigerian man, sentenced to 27 years imprisonment and 80 million riel penalty.
5. ASEMOTA JUSTICE OSAHENI, a Nigerian man, sentenced to 25 years imprisonment and 50 million riel penalty.
The police confiscated two packs of drugs weighing 2.2 kg.
At the time of the arrests, the Australian woman had attempted to leave Cambodia on a flight to Australia, but she was arrested at Phnom Penh International Airport on November 18, 2013. After questioning, the police arrested another suspect named PRECIOUS CHINEME NWOKO, in a rented house in Sangkat Psar Deum Thkov, Khan Chamkarmorn. CHARLENE SAVARINO was accused of working with PRECIOUS CHINEME NWOKO to send YOSHE ANN TAYLOR to Australia as a drug mule. The two other Nigerian men who ran away to escape were later captured.

[Off topic] Immigration officers start to be pretty Who is ready for a passeport control ?
It’s hard to win an argument with a smart person, but it’s damn near impossible to win an argument with a stupid person.

^^^ Savarino Charlene deported. ???
It seems odd.
IF true, the French must have been doing some pretty smooth negotiating.
But why would they do that?
- it seems to me she was pretty obviously guilty as charged, and she never won any appeal against her conviction or sentence.
She was actively involved in deceiving and "setting up" innocent dumb dupes, at terrible risk to them.

Not Traffic Police, it's Department of Prisons (under Ministry of Interior).
Silence, exile, and cunning.

I stand corrected. Thanks, JB.

If it's the Australian man that I'm thinkin of; he made it back to Australia & was acquitted.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 1:03 pm Cambodia News (Phnom Penh):

Yet this information wasn't relayed to the appropriate competent authorities in Cambodia; relating to Yoshe Taylor who was caught in Cambodia.
