Hide your stash; A Cautionary Tale

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I have given up hiding my 100 r notes . I put them in bundles of ten and hid behind , the mirror on the wall, photo frame hanging on the wall, inside pillows, pockets of my clothes in cabinet , under the mattress, and other places that no-one would look , but the kids in my family can smell money from the other side of the room.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I give all my 100s & 500s to my son for his piggy bank - last count he had close to $200 in that sucker ... mother "borrowed" 5,000 riel to pay a tuk-tuk. All hell broke loose I can assure you.

I know a guy in Indonesia whose wife is an illegal money lender. He was telling me earlier in the year they have $60 000 in cash kept in their room and he has gotten to the point of hating the job of money counting as many people make repayments in small denominations of 1000, 5000 and 10 000 rupiah notes.

My wife greedily snatches all mine.
And she goes to the bank and changes big notes for more.
For the monks, the beggars and the feast days.

When she goes to the bank to get some more, she insists on used notes.
She reckons it's disrespectful to hand out new ones to poor people.

One day something may happen. For example, you have health problems. That money may be what you need in that situation. Without it you may have serious difficulties.

The 100 Riel notes are worthless. But that’s just my .02 cents.
