Season 5 booked
Season 5 booked
Finally booked our tickets for Nov/Dec 2019 trip, 3 weeks
thinking PP for 4 nights, Koh Rong for beach fix for a week or so, maybe a couple in Kampot then back to PP
sadly no Otres, dont even want to see it, too heartbreaking
hoping there was a way to get to Kampot via water but it doesn't appear so, looks a fair distance on the map, the drive wasn't much fun last time but from memory it broke up the drive back to PP
any suggestions other than Kampot? Don't want to waste too much time traveling or flying...

Re: Season 5 booked
Does anyone know the condition of the road between SHK & Kampot currently?
Last time I went in January it was pretty appalling.

Approx 120 k on the water. Only 1 way i know.
But you gotta love rough boat trips, more than you hate rough road trips.
Organise to rent a small local fishing boat for two days. Sleep on boat, beach or town.
Time to explore/swim/dolphin search enroute.
Two days, $100-150 total, maybe plus fuel - IF you can convincingly pretend you are not a tourist.
A good (must be very good) tuk tuk driver or similar should be able to help find and negotiate your boat.
Go to the fishing boat/fish market precinct just north of the container port.
Start off by asking the fish buyers if they know any available fishermen, but they are usually non helpful chinese khmers.
Then stroll around the piers and talk to the fishermen themselves.
Very do-able, if you are resourceful, and a good negotiator.
Rough, but a super fab way to go.
(Don't forget to buy some fish from the market to charcoal grill on your trip)

interesting, the fishing boat sounds fun, 2 days and 4 slabs of Klang....
yeah the road was horrible last year, at least not as far as the white knuckle trip from PP to Snookie...guess there'll be a lovely 4 lane concrete Chinese freeway soon, Casino stops along the way maybe

Worth taking a look down at that small-boat fishing precinct anyway, Nakedbutt. (or everyone)
Better than David Attenborough.
The creatures that come off those boats are from another planet.
I have never seen such a variety of weird and wonderful sea life anywhere.
The Cambodian coast has an wide range of coastal habitats, some very rich ones, and it is incredible what comes out of there.
You can see many hundreds of all these different "things" at the fish buyers stalls.
2-3 ks NE of the container port. Look for the small green longtails, it's not the trawler and bigger boat area.

You'd be able to get a boat on the beach at Koh Touch village.
