More than 160 Vietnamese living illegally in Cambodia have been deported back to their home country since a census of foreigners began earlier this year, according to an official in the immigration department.

Mam Srimvanna, deputy director-general of Interior Ministry’s department of general immigration, said Friday that 164 Vietnamese had been deported from the border provinces of Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Takeo since July 30.

The bulk of the illegal immigrants, 152 in total, were living in Svay Rieng province. A further six were found in Takeo and another six in Prey Veng.

“Besides the Vietnamese people, there were also other foreign nationals that were found staying illegally in Cambodia too,” Mr. Srimvanna. He said that more than 200 people have been deported from the country to date as part of the census.

“Right now we are still continuing the census, so that we can find any more illegal foreigners,” he said.

The census, which officials promised would be more extensive and wider-reaching than previous counts, has targeted nationals from......

What they do to the Vietnamese, they can do to the foreigners.

They will.....no doubt about that.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

"we bangs are an asset for cambodia." I think you are deluding yourself. They do not see our intrinsic value or contributions as anything other than sources of income. They have a very low opinion of us and a too high opinion of themselves. I am not referring to the average Cambodian in the street whom the govt also does not respect, but to the govt. who respects only money.

And if we are indeed valuable assets to this country why has either Sam Rainsey or his party spoken out in our defense. After all, a huge part of his financing comes from foreign countries. No, I'm sorry but you're deluding yourself. Time to leave if you have no ties and a lot of special visas. If of course you've only been here for a year or so you can afford your attitude.
