Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia Breaking News (Phnom Penh): On August 19, 2019, at 8:00 pm, a pregnant woman called the media, accusing her doctor of sexually assaulted her at Karona Pet private hospital, in Touch Market, Sangkat Sras Chok, Khan Don Penh, Phnom Penh.

The victim said the doctor was touching her inappropriately, putting his finger into her vagina three times without wearing a glove. She called the reporter and contacted the authorities for help.

Pet is the Khmer word for hospital. I think it's spelled ពេទ្យ. She went to Karona Hospital private hospital.

Another great TVFB story, watched a bit live when unfolding. TVFB is always looking for scoops, and promises to come over immediately when called, day and night. So people now start calling them first before the authorities and also use getting them involved as a threat when experiencing injustice or problems. Often stories are followed up with interviews in the studio with those involved, as with the massage-lady-crying-husband story a few weeks back.

From what I understood*, this story went as follows: Pregnant lady is brought to a clinic by her mother for some kind of check-up. Mother talked with the doctor to get an estimate of costs, on which the quote was $40. Returning home, the bill not only got padded to $200 with unnecessary stuff, but 'checks' were performed on the pregnant lady by some kind of intern, nurse or medic in training. This person put his hand into her vagina three times to perform some 'checks', without wearing any protective gloves. After this, the padded bill was received, and lady and mother were angry by the fact that this 'check' was done without any gloves, doubting whether this was a real medical procedure or a sexual assault. They were also worried that this could lead to some infection or complications. In the follow-up, authorities were alerted and the clinic had to pay mother and daughter $400 instead of receiving $200.

*maybe others can elaborate or contradict

Can't elaborate on this case, but when I read this, I thought there was a good chance that the patient simply didn't understand what a gyneco exam would entail.

Also agree with flex that there is a tendency for victims to call the media rather than the police. Facebook will save you. :drooling bouncy:

'Pet' is doctor. Montipet would be hospital.

Yeah, most of the bill seems to be antibiotics...presumably she didn't have a prior infection if she just went for a check up.
