Charity cycle race seeks to promote healthy living
Details for August’s Cycling for Environment and Children’s Health race has been released with interested participants encouraged to register for the sixth edition of the annual race.

The race aims to encourage young Cambodians to join in with social activities in the community while also raising funds and awareness for Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap.

“The 6th Annual Cycling for Environment and Children’s Health 2019 will be held on Sunday 11th of August 2019 in Siem Reap city to raise fund in supporting Angkor Hospital for Children, reads a statement by organisers.

“The Cycling for Cambodia Committee would sincerely like to thank all businesses and individuals for supporting the annual cycling event for supporting Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap over the past 5 years. They raised over $ 70,000 and approximately 4,000 participants, mostly local and expats attend our events.”

To join the event all participants are requested to register by July 31 and pay a fee of $20 per person. Proceeds from the event, after all expenses, will be donated to Angkor Hospital for Children with organisers hoping to raise at least $30,000 (net) from this event.

Siem Reap: The 6th Annual Cycling for Environment and Children’s Health 2019, where riders cycled through Angkor Park to raise money for the Kantha Bopha Foundation for children's health, was a great success according to HE Sun Chanthol.

As well as being beneficial to the health of all those who participated in the annual bicycle ride, a total of over US$ 95,000 was collected from entry fees and donations to the children's hospital.
Well done all.

The 7th Annual Cycling for Environment and Children’s Health fundraising event, initiated by the Cycling For Cambodia (CFC) community, will take place on December 18 in the hopes of raising money for Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) in Siem Reap town.

The event will kick off at 6am at the Siem Reap Art Center Night Market on the east bank of the Siem Reap River – opposite the Phsar Chas Market (Old Market) – and follow a route southward to Athvear Pagoda in Siem Reap commune’s Kakranh village.

Cyclists will then take a 30-minute break at the Buddhist monastery before continuing to Phnom Krom Eco Resort in neighbouring Krasaing Roloeng village of the same commune.

CFC noted that the entry fee would be $20, but that participants would get a T-shirt, a facemask, drinking water, lunch and a snack, as well as the chance to cycle “for the sake of personal health, to strengthen friendships, and to save the lives of children” through the AHC.
