You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Accessing Bokor National Park by foot

Post by Simon_Miles »

Does anyone know how to get to an entry point for Bokor National Park that takes you through the forest via a footpath?

Everything I read online points to the winding road that leads you to the top, but from there you can't really get into the undergrowth.

I'm looking to get into the national park proper for some bird/nature watching, so just wondering if anyone knows of any trails/footpaths that are off the beaten track, and how to find them etc?

Cheers!

Theres several hiking trails ranging from a couple hour hikes to full day hikes, but you need to travel up the mountain to reach the start points. Not really recommended to go off the beaten path and stray far from trails though.

Been a few years since I've been back up there, but I'm sure there must be plenty of info on the interwebs.

Thanks mate.

Struggling to get much info online in terms of start points for the hikes you mention, aside from links to organised tours which I don't want to do.

Do you have any idea where to go when you reach the top? I went before, ended up at Bokor Hill Station and couldn't see any feasible trails there.

I climbed Bokor through the jungle through a forest clearing under a line of electrical cables.
climbed 400 meters above sea level on my enduro motorcycle.
then there was a very steep climb, heavily overgrown with jungle and I went with my feet.
I can show my route on the map.
but this is the whole day.

There are several routes you can take but be prepared for an overnight stay if the weather closes in

The easiest is following the waterfalls from the Kings Wat but it gets very steep in places

Another route is the electricity route that Sinus mentions which is near the Boor road entrance - walking is easier but motorised transport is a bit tricky

Pick a spot and Bushwack. Welcome to the jungle, the KOWs got fun and games...
Still here, in country...
