How to retrieve assets in a country your denied entry
Re: How to retrieve assets in a country your denied entry
You most definitely need roaming activated on your phone service before you leave your resident country and go to your home country. I've used my Thai SIM in Canada to get One Time Passcode. I inserted the Thai DTAC SIM, and it takes a couple of minutes for it to connect with the local provider. Within another minute or two, some trailing SMSs arrive. Then I activate the Thai banking transaction online. The OTP takes a minute or two to arrive.

^ Not if you have the crypto card and reader, or the app.

I have always used just the ABA app, and have used it successfully while in the UK to pay my rent and EDC bills. It works just the same as if you were in Cambodia. And this is with a UK sim in the phone as well.offroadscholar wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:49 amI have wondered about accessing my ABA account from overseas. In Cambodia, if I log in from my computer, it sends an sms code to my Cambodian mobile number. If using the mobile app, in Cambodia, then no sms code required.
So I guess to access the account from outside Cambodia I would need my phone set to roam, so it picks up the sms code if logging on from my computer, or recognises the Cambo phone number if using the mobile app ??
Anyone tried it ?
You can also set up international swift payments on the app although I have never tried it. You might have a few problems sending large amounts from Cambodia though, it is back on a grey list for money laundering.

I have multiple phones / iPads , if I log into my ABA account from another source it cancels everything out and I gotta go to the bank and get it sorted out .. they said I can only have it on one app on one device so I keep it all on the same phone . ( I tried to have the same app on different devices but they won’t let me .... I just went in for a new passbook , they fill up fast , had 4 for free but now they charge $5 for a new book ! No wonder they are so well off !offroadscholar wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:49 amI have wondered about accessing my ABA account from overseas. ABA seems to be the best but I have nothing to compare it to , I can undeposit 1000$ from the foreign bank and cash it “ into “ the ABA cash in and change it to reil or smaller bills ... pretty much all by machine . I just go inside now to change my bundles of 100 reil notes into $1 bills —- the machine can’t do that !
Have you really been able to access the same ABA account on different devices ?
Maybe it’s been changed / upgraded . .? .

With ABA, you can also have your OTP sent to your email address.

an app only accesses its server via the internet. it doesn't read your IMEI, serial number, ip address, none of that.offroadscholar wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 10:09 amInteresting. It must recognize the serial number of the phone, rather than the sim/phone number?
Still here, in country...

You can also get ABA to send that code to your email instead, as well.offroadscholar wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:49 amI have wondered about accessing my ABA account from overseas. Is that an option on the app when making the transaction, or something that has to be setup prior to making the transaction ?siliconlife wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 9:37 amYou can also get ABA to send that code to your email instead, as well.offroadscholar wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 9:49 amI have wondered about accessing my ABA account from overseas. I've got the email set up on my ABA account but when in Australia or NZ never seem to receive the email
Footnote just last week I sent a few emails with attachments back to Australia and they never got there

I'm standing up, so I must be straight.
