I believe if you will make a thorough scientific examination of my posts you will find that I am an equal-opportunity objectifier.

Sure, because we can't keep putting PUG UGLY DEFORMED MAN in every headline, that's usually a given. Especially after they get dragged up and down the street a few times and keep bumping into things on the way to jail.Headlines for threads involving men don’t refer to their looks.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

To be clear, CEO news sources used for translating from Khmer are often the equivalent of tabloids, but much less sophisticated, and part of the charm of the Khmer news is passing it on as it is reported to the population, so you get expressions like "Cute girl", "Gangsters" (teens doing wheelies aged 13 or 14), "Very old woman aged 52", etc; this is how things are reported locally.
If this points out the sexism inherent in Khmer culture then so much the better. It might give cause for reflection.
Also, we cannot headline each news item with "A person" did this or that. Not possible.

I tend to agree with Noam Chomsky on this one - that "political correctness" is a molehill, compared with the mountain that is racism, sexism, environmental destruction etc.
But I am still a believer in free expression and descriptive literature.
I quite like the slightly odd local news headlines, funny in their own way - Maybe CEO could add a few of it's own acerbic headlines in news stories about "cute" looking men. Especially us expats.

Thanks for the explanation. I always thought that it was being added on tongue in cheek. It’s enlightening to know that this is what the locals are getting.CEOCambodiaNews wrote:To be clear, CEO news sources used for translating from Khmer are often the equivalent of tabloids, but much less sophisticated, and part of the charm of the Khmer news is passing it on as it is reported to the population ...
