Fiancé Visa for Cambodian > US

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

There is no issue with MOFA.
Indeed, if you claim to have never been married before they don't even ask proof of it....

In my case we had the sangkat one with us but they didn’t want it. Matches with the list they sent

I have savings to cover this. I do not have a job currently (took a year off to travel) but will have one within a week of landing in the US. Would a letter from an employer help in this case? It’s something I can get.
-------------------------------------------

Just be aware that your savings will need to considered enough to support the two of your indefinitely. Not for one year or two years, etc. So if you have a few million dollars that generate more than the 125% threshold, then your likely ok - but you don't want to really be close to this 125% figure - something along the lines of 250% would be a more comfortable neighborhood with no existing job.

When dealing with government bureaucrats you'll often find common sense does NOT apply. So if you can easily get a good job - THEN GO AND DO IT prior to applying. Sending an explanation may or may not work - sending a W-2 definitely works.

The reason for this is that your responsible for any public funds that may end up being claimed by the person your sponsoring. Your obligation ends when any of the following occur:

1. Your partner earns credit for 40 quarters of work in the US
2. Permanently leaves the USA
3. Becomes a US Citizen
4. Dies

You will actually fill out two affidativs of support - once for the visa and another after you are married and apply for a change in status.

Good luck.

I brought my Filipina fiancee to live in Canada in 2007. I was 55, she was 19. The age was not a problem at all!

There were other problems later, but NEVER the age. Canada approved everything very easily.

Maybe they should have, considering the "there were other problems later" bit.

Well, it's none of your business but she had two miscarriages and then was told she couldn't have children and since I wanted to have a child we mutually agreed to divorce. Not before she fucked my (older) next door neighbor though.

Did she get her green card?
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

You're dead right it's none of their business. Credit to you for being candid but take no heed of some long time members trying to push your buttons.

Yes, I wanted a child very much. I had a daughter in Cambodia in 2014 and I love her very much but I don't see her as much as I would like. She lives in Poipet now her mom works in a casino there. My son is 44 and is a successful architect in Canada, but we haven't spoken in years he has never met his sister.

My wife and I divorced after two years and I moved to Thailand and then Cambodia and she stayed and moved in with my neighbor but they split up I don't know where she is now. Is that enough? If you want to find her, be my guest, I'm done with her.
