Rent negotiations - norm
Rent negotiations - norm
I've made some appointments to see some condos/apartments via realestate.com.kh. I was wondering what the norm is in negotiating rents downwards. i.e. to landlords typically expect 10% or 15% reductions in negotiations? I realize it will vary depending on the landlord, location and length of time the unit has been empty. However I was wondering if there are any norms around this.
I've read Vladimir's excellent article on finding a place to live in Phnom Penh. Unfortunately I don't have the time to carry out his apartment hunting methods.

If you look like a respectable tennant and have told them you are willing to sign a long term lease , I would make a ridiculously low offer and then wait around for a reply. The reason being ,, there are thousands of places up for rent and good tennants are hard to find .
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

I'll be around for a while, but was thinking starting @ 6 months to give myself some time to get a feel for PP.
