Different dental treatment

Post by explorer »

In Australia, when a person goes to the dentist, the dentist normally gives an anaesthetic injection, then does the filling, or whatever treatment is being performed.

In Cambodia, with some dentists, they check to see if the tooth to be treated is sensitive to pain. If it is, they apply a chemical to kill off the painful part. The patient goes back next week and the dentist checks to see if the tooth is sensitive to pain again. If it is, they apply the chemical to kill off the painful part again. This is repeated the following week. When the tooth is no longer sensitive to pain, the dentist does the filling, or whatever treatment is being performed.

1. Are others familiar with this treatment?

2. The chemical which kills off the inside part of the tooth is obviously a poison. Does it increase the likelihood of the person getting cancer in the future?

3. Does killing the living part of the tooth, result in a weaker tooth in years to come?
