Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia Breaking News (Phnom Penh): In the early hours of July 20, at around 3:30 am, a BMW with no number plates, was driven into the gate of the Institute of Education, on Preah Norodom Boulevard, Sangkat Chaktomok, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh.
The car was a bit damaged at the front, but the driver was seemingly unhurt, because he ran away from the scene before the police arrived.

The traffic police went to remove the car from the scene and took it to keep at the police station, waiting for the owner to turn up and claim it.

Just an interesting aside.

I was driving home very late one night on Norodom and I saw what looked like a Maserati or some such atrociously priced luxury sedan, awkwardly up on the curb with a bent traffic sign sprouting from the crunched hood.

I slowed down to have a look. The photogs had already started to arrive and mingle. The doors were open and it looked like the driver had probably already been picked up and whisked away.

There was only one grey clad, safari suited thug pacing around and I watched him carefully place a towel or something over the cars license plate, covering it completely.

He then stood straight and for some reason picked me out of the growing crowd and started mad-dogging me, something fierce. I thought he must be having flash-backs of smashing babies against palm trees, so not wanting to provoke him further with my nosy presence, I made a hasty retreat.
