Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia Breaking News(Phnom Penh): On July 8, 2019, at 10:30 pm, two men were arrested after snatching a phone from a 50 year old Chinese man, LYU GONG, in Chroy Basac village, Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh. The suspects were identified as Veat Veasna, 20-year-old motordop driver, and Khum Reach, 19-years-old.

The suspects were quickly captured because police on patrol saw the theft as it took place. They saw the victim on the street talking on his phone, when suddenly the two suspects rode up on a motorbike, snatched the phone and drove off. The police chased them, captured them, and detained them for questioning. One of the thieves got a black eye in the thrill of the chase.

After questioning, the suspects were sent to Khan Chbar Ampov police station for case preparation and the phone was returned to the victim.

A tactic that might reduce the number of phone snatchers ...

Once the snatchers are caught, their moto are confiscated and immediately sold (money going to the cops, of course).

Lots of these snatchings are crimes of opportunity, not poverty.

Once the freshies lose their boy toys they might think harder next time they are bored.

NKOTB, your thinking out of the box is hugely impressive. If I were you I would rush to offer my consulting services to the powers that be, they might recognise such a brilliant intellect.

Why not take their Range Rovers too if you really want to stop crime.

I am pleased to know it didn't happen after the chase.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.
