Re: Unlimited Usenet Account for $20 a Year (Limited Promotion)
I got a bad experience about a year ago with torrents when I got this pesky virus called 'coinhive'. It would slow down my browsers big time. You can use a blocker but it still slows things down.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 8:27 pm what do you get with a usenet account i cant get for free with my android box or using kick ass?
Just asking
I use an AV Kaspersky but I think it didn't pick it up coz I was using a free VPN with the Opera browser and it doesn't support it. Anyway, eventually I got rid of coinhive albeit it was a lengthy process of cleaning and getting into the registry. The other alternative was to do a clean install of Win 10.
Not saying that will necessarily happen to all torrent users but it certainly turned me off.

I didn't understand any of the above and seems like a lot of hassle...LOLFlexxman wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 3:18 pm This points to a usenet provider that was indeed deemed #1 last year in the test by Techradar: https://www.techradar.com/news/the-best ... -providers
The same site did a test on Usenet clients, you will need one like SAB NZB or Get NZB: https://www.techradar.com/news/best-usenet-client
Modern clients even can de-obfuscate filenames such as e6185547cf8af6ca0ad263439f2279fa.01. It can be difficult to find things just using a free search index such as http://nzbindex.nl/ or https://www.binsearch.info/. Paid indexers give you more control and insight, but cost you a minor membership fee.
Here you can have a free overview of 'spots' where users will upload links to nzb files along with some information on the file, sorted by type: https://www.nzbserver.com/
It was by far the best way to download your favorite movies, TV shows and software. So if you're saying it's all come back to life I'll look into it. Thanks.
WHY:
been using torrents for ages, never any problem, even when kickass went down, just find another...maybe not super fast but my 200 Mbs download works fine.
so what makes it ".....the best way"
PS: i seldom download movies, tv shows at all anyway, as my android box picks up everything
Does anyone use an android box over there? Are the speeds fast enough to view the channels?
I use ; http://libgen.io/ for books

Usenet introduction for beginners, little bit old as it still has a section 'burning to DVD' but still useful: https://www.binaries4all.com/beginners/
I didn't understand any of the above and seems like a lot of hassle...LOL
It is just a different channel, all personal preference. Maybe you'd like it as well if you tried. You don't go, you don't know as they say. Set up the software and when you download/click the nzb file it will connect, download, unzip/extract and it is ready for viewing. I am sure there are also people who would ask you why you are using an Android box, as they have a satellite dish and memberships from Netflix to HBO so can watch all they would like, which is also another (more traditional) channel. Good (paid) news servers have a 10 year retention rate or more, so stuff will be available quite a while.
It is not that for these torrents you did not have to install and configure some software? If certain posters always post recent movies in good quality etc, you can set it up to automatically download all they ever post. Just check your defined download folder whenever you feel like watching some movie...
I haven't used torrents since eDonkey - that was in 2000. You also have to configure the software away from the defaults in a way that you are not seeding. In most jurisdictions seeders/uploaders get harsher treatment when caught ('when') than 'illegal downloaders' if that would be your concern. I do recall people getting persecuted while they thought they were just downloading with Kazaa.

Fair question.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 8:27 pm what do you get with a usenet account i cant get for free with my android box or using kick ass?

If you're able to stream 1080p movies that are about 12GB, then probably nothing.
I think Usenet is way more convenient. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think when there's a new torrent on the public sites the download speeds are very slow for a while, and if you get it from a private tracker, you are usually obligated to seed it back.
With Usenet you are always downloading at the maximum speed of your internet, and after you download you can't upload/seed it even if you wanted it to, so that's convenient. And I really don't know the exact files your playing, but if I see a movie labeled 1080p and it's not at least around 8GB then I know it's not going to be the best quality.
And I'm not sure if you can do with this torrents (probably can), but you can also choose the titles of movies and shows you want to watch, decide what resolution you want, and there are programs that will automatically download them for you when they come out. Check out Radar and Sonar for that.
NewsHosting is back with their $20 a year offer at the moment, so if anyone wants it they can get it here:

It seems all of these recent promotions have been marketing campaigns where they retarget old customers to win them back, but they seem to work for anyone with the link.
