Phnom Penh, Cambodia: The Immigration General Department said that on June 29, 2019, at 07:30 am, a western man set himself on fire on National Road No 6, Phum Dang village, Prek Anchanh commune, Muk Kampoul district, Kandal province.

On the morning of the incident, the foreigner was walking along National Road 6 , when he suddenly rushed over to pick up a can of gasoline in front of a house, doused himself with it, and set himself on fire. Fortunately, there were people nearby who saw what was happening, and they put out the fire and looked after the man until the authorities arrived. Even so, the victim suffered severe burns.

The victim has been identified as 29-year-old French national, YANN AUDOIN. Bystanders immediately called the police, who called an ambulance to take the injured man to Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh.
The reason for the Frenchman's act remains unknown, but hopefully his family have been notified as he obviously needs help.

It looks like he has a bandaid from a serious head injury. It is possible that his brain was damaged in an accident and that has triggered a psychosis. Poor guy belongs in a hospital.

I Hopefully, the French embassy can get him home and the help he needs.

I suggest you contact Calmette hospital. They should not give out details of your friend's condition, but they will probably tell you if he is a patient there. You could also contact the French Embassy, but they will be closed until Monday, so suggest trying the hospital first.
