Japanese Mining Engineer Dies of Heart Attack

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Stung Treng, Cambodia News: On June 21, 2019 in Stung Treng province, Watanabe Kazuya, a Japanese man dropped dead of a heart attack while out prospecting for a Japanese mining company.
After examination of the body, the medical authorities have said that the deceased suffered a cardiac arrest brought on by over-heating and dehydration. The weather is hot at this time of year in Cambodia, and the group of Japanese engineers had walked a long way over rugged terrain. RIP

In April this year, the Cambodian government granted exploration rights in this area to Nittetsu Mining (Cambodia) Ltd.,a Japanese company, so it is quite possible that the deceased was prospecting for this firm, looking for deposits of copper and zinc around Stung Treng.
Japanese companies to begin mineral extraction in Northeast
The Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (Jogmec) on Tuesday announced plans to exploit copper and zinc deposits in Stung Treng province, in the country’s northeast.
Jogmec, an incorporated administrative agency of Japan’s Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry, will be extracting the minerals in cooperation with another Japanese firm, Nittetsu Mining Co.
Both companies have been surveying the area for mineral deposits, Kyodo newsgroup reported last week.
