Re: Ladyboy Arrested for Insulting all Cambodians on Social Media
Scales of justice are always weighted in the direction of the popular vote, anywhere in the world.
But he was also kind of a dick. Being a law-student, I'd at least expected at least some sort of tact and smartness in the way he presented his point. Some sort of strategy... nada.. zip.
Seems to dig himself a deeper hole each time he's allowed to be near a mic.
Assuming he probably even tried representing himself in court.
Arrogance does not help in any way. So does screaming and expressing anger.
Well-thought out arguments... That's what he lacks.
He needed to stop playing only the victim. Yes he was a victim of a horrible hate crime.
But he commited a crime as well in the eyes of the khmer legal system and he does not seem to understand that just because they are connected, the previous crime does not become an excuse for the current crime. At most it's a mitigating factor.
His best bet could have been to come up with a deal with the prosecutor and convince him/her to drop the charges or implement a full suspended sentence in exchange for not pissing on them on tv.
The way he sounded, he would be a firecracker... as soon as he's out, he would just get on all the media outlets and bash on the entire legal system.
Now why would they hand you a green card to screw them over?
Looks like he did not give them much choice.
Now, I hope once he get's his wits about him, he'll focus his energy on getting those who whacked him behind bars for a long time.
(yes i know the pc way to call him a she, but unless he goes through the sex-change op, he's still a he)
