Koh Santepheap reports that a number of sources have repeatedly criticized the tycoon Kith Thieng for not sleeping in prison after his arrest. The oknha disposes of a private air-conditioned room in the quietest area of the Khmer-Russian Hospital, room 101, where he is kept under watch by 3 policemen and his private bodyguard. He has now been there for 5 months.
There is a lot of comment and complaint on social media about one law for the rich and one law for the poor, and many people suspect that the tycoon is not ill at all, but has been using his privileges to gain preferential treatment.

Oknha Kith Thieng a 'no show' at Drug Trial
The Phnom Penh Municipal Court on the morning of the 22nd of October this morning issued a case against drug trafficking at Rock Center where the accused is: Oknha Kith Thieng, but he did not bring him to court.
Apparently he is too ill to attend.
How they fitted this many guys in the van for the trial is a Khmer mystery
And maybe this guy knows something we don't or he is the most positive guy in the world for someone facing a 20 stretch
Meanwhile Kith Thieng's body double at the Soviet Friendship hospital is on the mend or so I hear

Loads of monkey business down there over the years. I was only in there a couple of times way back and we only went in to have a beer and check out how insanely big and opulent you could make a barn.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Friday sentenced business tycoon Kith Theang to four years in jail in connection with a drug raid at his Phnom Penh nightclub last year.
Theang, the brother of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce president Kith Meng, was arrested in March last year following a raid at the Rock Entertainment Center, in the city’s Chamkar Mon district, on Feb. 23. Police found 50 kg of methamphetamines and other illegal drugs, and arrestd more than 300 people.
On March 11, an investigating judge charged Theang with arranging and facilitating the illegal use of addictive substances and conspiracy under Articles 42 and 44 of the Drugs Control Law and Article 29 of the Criminal Code.
Presiding Judge Im Vannak on Friday announced his decision to sentence Theang to four years in jail and with a fine of 8 million riel (about $2,000), according to court spokesman Suos Vithyearandy.
The court also sentenced 31 other suspects in the case to between 18 months and four years in jail and with fines of 3 to 8 million riel ($750 to $2,000).
Asked whether Theang was detained in prison or being treated at a hospital, Vithyearandy said he did not know and declined to answer further questions.
Theang was sent to hospital to treat a health problem in April last year. Chhim Thida, director of Phnom Penh’s PJ Prison, told CamboJA News that “for now, Mr. Kith Theang has been receiving treatment at the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital.”
Thida said he did not know what specific health problem Theang was dealing with.

Kith Theang, the brother of tycoon Kith Meng, was absent from a new drug trial at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Wednesday, with a prisons official saying Theang was in hospital.
Theang, who owned the Rock nightclub in Phnom Penh, was arrested in March 2019 for drug-related offenses, then sent to hospital the following month, according to officials. In March last year, an official again told media he was in hospital.
On Wednesday, after he failed to appear in court, Interior Ministry prisons department spokesperson Nuth Savna said Theang’s health woes continued.
“He is still in hospital and has not returned to prison yet,” Savna said, though he could not give details about Theang’s health issues, including their frequency.
Theang, the brother of one of the country’s most prominent businessmen and a director for several of his own companies, was arrested as 50 kg of methamphetamines and other illegal drugs were seized at the Rock nightclub. He was sentenced last year to four years in prison for charges relating to the commission and financial operation of drug crimes.
On Wednesday, 12 defendants, including Theang, were due to be tried for purchasing, storing or consuming the proceeds of drug offences.
However, Presiding Judge Key Manera postponed the trial because not all lawyers were present.
