Russian firm launches 'Femininity Marathon' to encourage women to 'maintain their essence'

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

Russian firm launches 'Femininity Marathon' to encourage women to 'maintain their essence'

This company is paying female employees to wear short skirts

An aluminium company in Russia has launched a ‘Femininity Marathon’ for the month of June, where they are encouraging their 149 female employees to wear short skirts, no makeup and their hair tied up in a bid to keep the 550+ male employees of the company happy.

Russian firm Tatprof introduced monetary incentives for the ‘marathon’ to encourage women to ‘maintain their essence,’ while apparently boosting the morale of the male employees. They are offering women an extra $2.20 a day on top of their normal wage, to wear a dress or skirt “no longer than five centimetres from the knee”.

To qualify for the bonus, women have to send a selfie to their boss. Right-o then.

The policy has been widely criticised for its “dark ages” look at the world, with some rightfully slamming it as disgusting.

One Twitter user wrote, “Why do we need feminism when one can just please men for money?”

Another added, “So #Tatprof is running a femininity contest for its employees in Russia, basically it seems so the bosses can gawk over the pictures.

“Disgusting abuse of power & exploiting women.”

Speaking to a local radio station, a spokesperson said that they wanted to “brighten up our work days…. Our team is 70% male.”

“These kinds of campaigns help us switch off, rest. This is a great way to unite the team.

“Many women automatically wear trousers to work, which is why we hope that our campaign will raise our ladies' awareness, allowing them to feel their femininity and charm when they make the choice of wearing a skirt or dress."

Anastasia Kirillova, from Russia’s department of corporate culture and internal communications, said the idea came from Tatprof CEO, Sergei Rachkov, who is apparently worried about gender roles.

“He really wants to maintain the female essense,” Kirillova told Business Online.

“So that young women do not have male haircuts, do not change into trousers, so that they engage themselves in handicraft, project all their warmth into raising children.”

So far, 60 women have taken part.
