Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. Car had tinted windows. Would have made more sense to drive away without dropping a bleeding corpse into the road.
In fairness if you watch the video closely it looks like the victim opened the door himself in an attempt to escape (likely after seeing the gun). It looks like he's shot during this escape attempt and after he falls to the floor if you look closely you can see the blood start to stream out of his head.
The man & woman walking along seem startled at that exact time as well which would give credence to this version of the event.

And people thought Snookyville was shit years ago when old white fellas and backpackers enjoyed the place. I spent some of the best times of life there with the family. Rocking up to the beach in the afternoon after driving down and drinking Ancher cans and eating grilled squid.

I had similar experiences. Would get a hotel with a pool, wake up before lunch, swim in the pool and go eat somewhere, then after lunch catch a ride down to otres which was fairly quiet and clean, get fucked up on the beach all day and watch the sunset, head back to town for a wash, nap, and dinner, drink more cocktails, then head back to the hotel and pool, rinse and repeat. I did that from about 2007 until 2017 and had some good times :thumb:
If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

This.

Which is why it was never going to get developed with that clientele.
50c beers, $120 per month wages for staff, $2 dishes...

We had our chance and just wanted to keep it like a slightly shitty backwater secret.
We still had garbage in the streets and sewerage running down the potholed roads but it was our shitty place.

Goodbye SHV.

Cambodian police appear shocked that Chinese nationals in Sihanoukville were in possession of an unauthorized weapon.

Police: Probe into Preah Sihanouk armed murder underway
Soth Koemsoeun | Publication date 08 May 2019
National Police spokesman Chhay Kim Khoeun said on Tuesday that the police have yet to identify the source of the firearm that was used in a murder involving Chinese nationals in Preah Sihanouk province.

A Chinese national was shot and killed in a car on Monday, with the motive for the crime remaining unknown. Two suspects, also Chinese nationals, were arrested about two hours after the victim’s body was found on the side of a road in Preah Sihanouk town’s commune 4.

Noting that the investigation was still underway, Kim Khoeun said: “Where did they get the gun from? It was not from Preah Sihanouk or any army’s weapon warehouse.”

He said the “authorities in every level” continue to prevent the use of weapons throughout Cambodia.

“We already implemented concrete actions and set specific targets, but mishaps continue to occur across the country, not only in Preah Sihanouk province,” he said.

Speaking to The Post on Tuesday, Preah Sihanouk provincial police chief Chuon Narin said the suspects already went through interrogation and now remain in custody.

He said the two “will not be sent to the provincial court immediately” due to the ongoing investigation to determine the motives and because “the authorities are still searching for other suspects”.
