There is a native market called phsar kandal a block west of riverside.
Around st. 154
Along side it runs a street with a lot of money changers and some expat bars.
On the corner are stalls with key repairmen. One of these might repair watches.
If they don't then go into a money-changing place and ask.
When I need advice about life, I just check in here.

Hi for all. I am very new here. I have a question about currency. Now I m in pp and use usd. But I will go islands and other cities. I need to convert usd to local currency or I can use dollars in all country easily ? Is it ok to give 100 usd for a 3 usd food for example ?

Hi TaS,
Cambodian riel and US dollars are interchangeable and accepted everywhere in Cambodia. However it's not always easy to pay small amounts with $100 bills, so try to take small dollar bills if you are going to the islands or to local villages. Small businesses are not usually happy to get $100 because you are taking all their change.
You can probably break $100 at your hotel, or if not, go to the local money-changer at the market. Last time I did that in the provinces, US$100 note was changed to 20s, free of charge.

You can do that, but most people use $ for buying anything $10-20 and up, and use riel for small stuff. To give you an idea, $10 is $40,000 riel so $100 is 400,000 riel, so it's just easier to use $ for paying larger amounts. Much of the time you will pay in $ and get riel in change.
There are some exceptions, but in most places $1 = 4000*r and the two currencies are interchangeable.

*approximate rate, but it doesn't vary much
