Our NGO imports 3-4 containers per year. Most from USA but occasionally from China and various points of origin.

Sorry cannot speak to your specific departure ports but can share with you that for planning purposes we budget $4,500 per container for ocean freight.

That is a safe average for Asia and Central America from east and west coasts USA and China. (We do enjoy the services of a freight agent in USA that handles all booking and documentation – of which there is a lot!)

A 20 foot container costs about same as 40 footer so very seldom use them – Now we typically only book a 40 and fill it out with whatever. Note LTL (Less-Than-Load) such as a given number of palettes can run as much as a full container)

Here in Cambodia we figure about $1,200 for dock and customs fees. Our containers come tax-exempt and have good working relationship with port authorities and customs. Do not know what other fees on top of import tax a commercial venture would encounter.

Average about $400 per container from port to Phnom Pehn. Note – unless your off-load site is on outskirts of PPN you cannot receive a container until after 9 PM.

About 4000 euros from Europe (Hamburg, Rotterdam), from China much less, I heard below $1000 for the whole container.

Previously I shipped windows and furniture from
Europe and paid $3800 total including port fees, taxes, and many fees that were added after the shipping was sent.

Best bet is it to ask prior to shipping
