Death is all coming to us, but guys, please stop drugs especially in SE Asia! I am sick and frightened by all the deaths of expats reported here, I am scared.

yup, people dying, overdosing & committing suicide doesnt hit the news when it happens in their home country, they just end up being a statistic, someone dying abroad gets a little more attention

theres unfortunately about 6000 suicides in the UK every year (16 per day)

yup, people dying, overdosing & committing suicide doesnt hit the news when it happens in their home country, they just end up being a statistic, someone dying abroad gets a little more attention

theres unfortunately about 6000 suicides in the UK every year (16 per day)

In the US as I'm sure UK the majority are young men (i.e. 20-40 Years) I think I read that suicide is the biggest killer of this demographic. If people feel low I hope they would be able to reach out to someone. I often see in the Thai blogs they have the Samaritans however having done a rudimentary search I dont see them here....does anyone know if they or similar exist in Cambodia?

And at least 10 overdoses a day in the UK too. I agree that cases like that don't even make the local press in the west as they are so common, unless they involve someone famous. A friend of mine in the early 90s was the daughter of someone famous, and she was quite a mess. When the press caught up with her they crucified her, and not so long after she hung herself. The Cambodian media tends to focus on grim stories and brutal crimes or accidents, I'm not sure it's a healthy obsession. A misbehaving or fucked-up foreigner gets a lot more attention than a local doing the same. Meanwhile the world just keeps on turning.

yeah in the UK its 3/4 (75%) are young males

In the UK, Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45
