Being a “single” woman in Phnom Penh

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Thanks for the OP post anyway Roz. You are putting yourself out there for criticism, but it might make some people think. ;-)

trust me, it happens to blokes as well, maybe for different reasons, often a lot more pathetic, but it happens
The difference is you never feel powerless Jamie.
what do you mean by feel powerless? At least with a woman the outcome is usually only verbal, when blokes have an altercation in a bar it can turn out a lot worse,
dont get me wrong, what he said wasnt appropriate, just some bogan whos used to being called hansum getting his pride dented,
the 104 bars arent classy bars, so youre not going to get classy clientele (not justifying his actions at all btw, you know i would have said something if i were there)

I have to give jah steu credit here. Many years ago we tearfully farewelled Orange Dragon on a rather interesting pub crawl that passed through one of jah's establishments. Mrs Stroppy and I attended as a married couple, and two other couples were also present. We ended up in the "back area" of the establishment where things between customers and hostesses could possibly be more intimate, and while the hostesses just sat quietly for the time we were there, the male customers were clearly very uncomfortable and even annoyed with three couples suddenly appearing and settling in to that space. Another bar-owner was also present with his very intimidating dog, which added to the entertainment. Jah ensured we were comfortable, felt welcome, and had a constant flow of drinks - great host.

definitely the case, if a bloke round here calls a girl a cunt he would likely get a thump to the nose and a stiletto to the eye :love10:

Is that Mötley Crüe having a fight in Burger King?
If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

Not trying to encourage violence but this lady has some style:

As for a lot of other posts, apparently this happened in one of the only non-hostess bars on that stretch of 136, the bar that was there before any other one. The customers in there are a mixed bag. I wouldn't let a dumb bogan bother me so much, like the OP I'd likely just move away if they kept annoying me.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
