Holiday in Cuba ? Better hurry up !

Post by kaputt »

Sanctions anyone ?

Cuba is the last victim of "US Sanctions". The country is targeted because it supports Venezuela's ruling Gov. under Maduro.

At the current pace i wonder if there will be any country left on the planet that has not been sanctioned by the US.

When will the rest of the World start sanction the US ? I believe that this won't happen anytime soon because the world gov. and businesses are full of "HOS".

Just did a bunch of reading about it. What I see I can agree with it. In 1959 Fidel "confiscated" a lot of citizens accounts, businesses and property. There were sanctions put in place some of which US citizens could not litigate. They are lifting those sanctions now. For whatever reasons, I believe those people have a right to try to receive compensation.
Still here, in country...

Compensation from whom?

Surely not from the Cuban people who choose communism as a better option to the US backed mafia state that it previously was??

Visiting Cuba was a great experience for me. One of the few/only places in the world that are not heavily commercialized. Not Americanized, and in fact, almost none of them Muhrican's present, but you would have to watch out for the odd Frenchman so there is that, so if you go, watch where you step.

I was in Veradero at an all inclusive, which was alright if you are a beach and sun worshiper, which I am not.

The day in Havana was the most fascinating, and if I ever go back I will spend the whole time there instead, except for maybe 1 day on the beach.

Incidentally, while the people are poor, and there is crumbling infrastructure, they have universal health care AND dental care that is studied by medical practitioners and scientists from all over the world. Well, they study the people. They are healthy and have the best teeth. There is no Junk/fast food. The people that choose medicine as a career are true empaths, and are not there for only the money, as they earn little less than anyone else. That is fantastic because your visit is not rushed. Their time isn't so valuable as to have to move you along. Their medicine can be purchased for pennies on the dollar too.

Fun Fact: Medical education including room and board is free to anyone in the world, and applicants from underprivileged countries are given priority.

USA leased Guantanamo Bay, and as a final Fuck You gesture, Fidel has never cashed a cheque and just throws them in the drawer.

For all that it is and is not, it surely is a testament to the human spirit and resilience.

The Havana architecture reminds me of the french quarter in NOLA.

The parliament building is a mini copy of the White House.

Fidel Castro is the biological father of Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. (google and look at the photo comparisons, which are startling) His mother was 18 when she met his father, the late Pierre, who was 29 years her senior and the most eligible bachelor in Canada at that time. But he wasn't nearly as handsome as his 'son' albeit he had charisma. Besides, Viagra hadn't been invented then. That's why Maggie went and had affairs with Mick Jagger and Fidel Castro and 1000 other guys being the little tramp she was.

I went to Cuba in 2015. Worst holiday of my life. Complete shithole. Food worse than anywhere, service hopeless, transport lethal. 50 years of communism has ruined everything. Government owned and controlled hotels are a perfect example of why the state, all state's, are completely useless at virtually everything they go near apart from violence, taxes and denials of responsibility.

Beautiful beach in Varadero, but they didn't make it and don't have to do anything to maintain it otherwise that would be fucked up too.
