Re: Kampot Water Splashing Causes Barang Motocycle Accident
I don't know what happened in his situation.
But one thing is a problem. Some people (not all) go for the face or eyes. So you are going along at a reasonable speed, and suddenly you are blinded. This is a serious safety issue.
Some people also touch the people going past. This can knock them off balance, and cause an accident.
Another issue which should be addressed, is those blocking the road, so passers by have to stop. I have seen traffic jams with a long line of vehicles, where people get to their destination an hour or more later than they would if those having fun did not block the road.
Let people have fun, but they should be taught not to create dangerous situations, and not to create traffic jams.

And tourists should be taught to wear a helmet and protective clothing. After that, Kampot will be like heaven.explorer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 7:57 pm I don't know what happened in his situation.

I will mention another issue. Some of these people are on the road, but not looking who is coming. They sometimes step any direction without warning. So someone could step in front of you just as you reach them. They may say it was your fault.

Got splashed today while riding my moto, and nearly went head-on into a Lexus. Was (partially) my own fault though, as I was attempting to shout "រីករាយឆ្នាំថ្មី" at the splashers as they splashed me, and got a mouthful of water.

Total mayhem in SR yesterday. I am all for fun but some of the water guns are huge and very powerful, far from "splashing".
Re: Kampot Water Splashing Causes Barang Motocycle Accident
Saw them filling the water guns with water directly out of the river. Not great for your mouth or eyes.siliconlife wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:29 pm Got splashed today while riding my moto, and nearly went head-on into a Lexus. SR was an absolute shitshow this KNY.
Out of all of the chaos, the thing that pissed me off the most were the numerous Barang participating and acting recklessly. The local culture may not fully understand the implications of blasting someone riding a motorbike in the eyes with a high powered water gun. But someone from a fully-developed and advanced country absolutely should. Granted, you should be wearing face/eye protection while riding, but this makes no difference when 6 people are aiming for your face at the same time and blinding you with water. I witnessed several Barang intentionally aiming for and shooting people in the eyes and face with water guns - I was even hit myself by a white woman who laughed at me as she did it. Eye protection or not, these water guns are powerful and can cause real damage to people. By all means have a good time, but FFS have some goddam common sense.

Indeed, some of the biggest cnuts were the . foreigners. Got into an argument last year with some foreigners who accused me of not understanding "Khmer culture". This from some soy-latte-sipping, beg-packing, hipster-wannabes, orphanage volunteers who looked like they had been in country for about three days .talltuktuk wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2019 4:20 pm SR was an absolute shitshow this KNY.
