Chinese Woman Tourist Gets 18 Years for Smuggling Drugs from Cambodia to Thailand
April 8, 2019
Woman jailed 18 years for drug trafficking
Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Friday sentenced a Chinese national to 18 years in prison and ordered her to pay $7,500 for trafficking nearly one-and-a-half kilograms of crystal meth and ketamine along the Cambodian-Thai border in Banteay Meanchey province last year.
Presiding Judge Im Vannak identified her as Huang Hue Fang, 39, a tourist.
He said Ms Huang was charged with drug transporting and trafficking, and was arrested on July 15 last year in Poipet city.
“The court convicted and sentenced her to 18 years in prison and a fine of 30 million riel to put in the state budget,” Judge Vannak said.
He noted that at about 2pm on July 15, Ms Huang travelled by taxi from Phnom Penh and was transporting drugs from Cambodia to Thailand via the Poipet International Checkpoint in Poipet city.
Judge Vannak noted that immigration police at the checkpoint inspected her suitcase, found and seized 979.85 grams of methamphetamine and 496.75 grams of ketamine inside.
Ms Huang on Friday said that the judgement was unjust because she did not own the drugs seized.
“It is unjust. I will appeal,” she said. Ms Huang said that the drugs belonged to an unidentified Chinese named Zhang who is at large.
She said that on the day of her arrest, she was asked by Mr Zhang to carry his suitcase for him from the border at Poipet city to the Thai side. She added that after her arrest she could not contact Mr Zhang.
Police said that Mr Zhang was a fake name.

you saying she is the master mind,
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

No, I mean the 'someone asked me to carry a suitcase across the border and I didn't know what was in it' excuse is getting rather lame imo
Been tried and tested many times before.. How stupid can you be? Then again, she's coming from a place where the news is heavily censored so probably a dimwit on these matters...no surprise then.
