Nigerian in Cambodia Detained for Fraud on US Request
Phnom Penh, Cambodia News: On April 03, 2019, a 37-year-old Nigerian man, SHEHU BELLO AKHARUKU and his Cambodian wife, Kim Sreykouch, 24-year-old, were detained in Prey Sar prison on fraud charges, allegedly at the request of US Embassy staff.
According to information from the Phnom Penh Court, on the morning of April 3, following a complaint from the US Embassy in Cambodia, the police of the Counterterrorism and Transnational Crime Department of the Ministry of Interior, delivered a Nigerian man and his Cambodian wife to appear before the court. Mr. Koy Chao, the Phnom Penh court judge then issued a detention order for the two suspects to be held at Prey Sar prison on charges of fraud. The details of the alleged crime were not made available.

It is thought that the Nigerian hacked into a company system and withdrew over a $100K of their cash.
Maybe his Cambodian lady was arrested for having had a wonderful time in helping him to spend the cash, but perhaps she had done it for him, not for herself, because she hadn't wanted him to feel bad.
Not sure why the US Embassy are involved in the case.
And the night air carries whispers of consolation.
