Truck Brake Failure Causes Crash into Town Statue
Kandal, Cambodia News: On March 05, 2019, at 06:45 pm, a truck suffered a spectacular brake failure as it was driving off Prek Tamak bridge on national road 8, Kampol district, Kandal. Arriving at the roundabout, the truck forged straight ahead and came to a halt after crashing into a statue.
There was some damage to the truck and public property. The driver ran away to escape.
The police removed the truck from the scene and impounded it, and waiting for the owner to sort out the problem.

"Brake failure". More likely a failure of the methed-up spot-faced kid playing candy crush whilst driving.

That's the way to the wife's province.
They just finished renovating that round-a-bout. Well guess it's time for another project.

Next project: Renovate the renovations.
I'd hate to be the fascist pig from hell that writes this, but I'd like to see 3 monthly checks for brakes, tires, lights, wipers, indicators, rust damage, licenses with heavy penalties for none compliance or is that virtue signaling?

Here's a little game for those of you who drive regularly around the country:
Check reg plate of each tractor trailer/arctic truck you are about to overtake then, after overtaking, check the reg on the front.
8 times from ten they are not the same.

at least 4 out of 5 I'm sure would fail it. Then how would you keep the vehicles off the road. I'd just wish the traffic police would actually do something lolPaulo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2019 11:30 amNext project: Renovate the renovations.

Traffic police are there to make easy money, sorry. Straight from their mouths.pczz wrote:traffic police go home at dusk
Stopping a speeding, heavily loaded truck in a police moto is risking life and limb.
That would be doing the job expected of the police in a western country, not making easy money for a Cambodian policeman.
Just another of the freedoms enjoyed by the expats living in the KOW.
Re: Truck Brake Failure Causes Crash into Town Statue
A little unfair I think. traffic police are paid peanuts. In many cases they have to give their salary to a senior officer to keep their jobs which they probably paid a considerable sum to get. They rely on traffic fines. The bigger the fine the easier the time and i have seen them leap in front of vehicles for driving the wrong way up the street. they are better organised now and have walkie talkies and double check points, but they only work in daylight and usually disappear after morning rush hour until around 2, unless they have bought a particularly lucrative spot like the bottom of 63 where people continually go the wrong way up the street and the copper there probably owns a porsche by now. he works long hours!newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2019 4:51 amTraffic police are there to make easy money, sorry.
