American,TOM O'CONNELL, Found Dead in White River II Hotel

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Yep, the drugs were administered TO him. Poor guy, he never CHOSE to take the drugs.
Why is that whenever there's a report of a routine white guy drug overdose or death by natural causes in Cambodia, someone comes onto the thread to say "It was MURDER!" "He knew too much!" "Khmers were after his money!"
There are some very paranoid people on here who think the locals only exist to persecute them. Rather pathetic really.
That, or maybe they're just people who can see the forest through the trees.

I have had doses of something administered to me several times and had a very difficult time waking up , I havent been able to identify the drug but its mixed with or substituted for meths.
So they don't know what they are talking about, they are trying to say they were knocked out from "meths", which as most would know is a strong stimulant.

maybe he had a heart attack?
maybe he got some fentanyl?
whatever..
he sure looked like a decent guy with skills and he sure died too fucking young..
sad loss ...
I am sure his family and friends are comforted by the chit chat about price of cock meds and what meth is cut with ..
yaba pills can be made out of anything..
yaba ice is some hardcore shit ..
now heroin is being cut with fentanyl and it is deadly..
go ask Prince and Tom Petty and about 50,000 other citizens of the USA last year..
I suppose they All had heart attacks..in that they all had hearts that were attacked by a deadly concentration of some shit...
But, maybe this young man just had a heart attack?
RIP

Whatever. The man is dead. Seems he died from a drug overdose. RIP.

I thought there was an agreement on the forum not to turn threads about people's deaths into a forum circus.
The reason for the number of foreigner deaths in certain Phnom Penh streets (such as 172) and hotels is definitely a valid discussion, but the subject comes up regularly when people die, and unfortunately it usually ends up as forum sniping and tasteless remarks. thumbdown

I think its a little beyond coincidence that such a high proportion of these deaths happen at the white river hotel. something is a little out of whack. one would almost assume that the hotel is supplying the drugs

Tarndog wrote: Wed Mar 20, 2019 3:22 pm This follow-up question just popped in my mind. If a barang had a life insurance policy, either an international type, one from their native country, or even maybe one here, would a cause of death being listed as heart attack here in the KOW be given a second review by a (more) qualified medical examiner before a payout was made? And if such second medical exam determines death due to illegal drugs, would a payout be made at all?
probably not. Most people are cremated here very quickly, especially if the relatives are savvy. Simply costs too much to ship bodies home and if you bbq your nearest and dearest quickly enough then ther is no time for a second opinion and you can get on with the task of grabbibng all the assets
