Any cutesy English terms your Khmer significant other likes to use?

My wife and I say "Joy Ma" when we're happy or excited.BklynBoy wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 7:29 am
and Motherfucker is another... I find it so cute when cursing as a term of endearment. It's even more cute because they aren't used to using it that way. I think because they know it as a curse and use in certain situations and love the way it sounds when using it differently.
"Hey honey, I made grilled chicken for dinner."
"Ooo joy ma, I'm hungry!"
We also say the same in English too. "Ooo motherfucker, that was good chicken."

I heard “Douchebag” on a movie years ago. It was ET - Extra Terrestrial. 1982 that was made.

I guess she wants to make you jealous or she need you to pay more attention to her maybe? Man is more lovely when he jealous( kidding).

Weird. That's always been a big turnoff for me. Hearing a Khmer girl swear like a sailor in a foreign language never impressed me or made me think it was cute. A bit like how foreigners think it's funny to say "choy kdouille" or "choy maey". 99% of Khmers aren't too impressed when they hear a foreigner speak like that. It's one thing as an inside joke between two people in the privacy of their home, but out in public it's cringeworthy, especially when it becomes a habit and apparent that the person (Khmer or foreign) knows only swear words in the foreign tongue.BklynBoy wrote:Bae is one

Another thought--- maybe it's an East Coast thing? American thing? an immature thing?

One that makes me laugh is my Khmer wife (unknown to me) had been using the term "stop digging around" at her work. Our daughter clued her in that it was "dicking around not digging"..... She thought it was digging around like digging into her purse to look for keys, thus wasting time. lol.
She used this at work for YEARS before we found out about it, hehe

100% this, just make them sound like a trashy bargirl whos only knowledge of the English language is what they have picked up from customers in bars, big turnoffBitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 3:45 pmWeird. Many locals (of all ages) say "Joy Mey" at any opportunity anyway, so I don't have to feel bothered about swearing like a trooper myself. As for "cutesy" terms, no idea.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
