Koh Rong Sanloem Beach Casino and Sewer Closed for Noise Pollution
Sihanoukville, Cambodia News: On March 12, 2019, the Sihanoukville authority shut down a club and casino named Jing Ding on Koh Rong Sanleom, citing the excessive noise that was disturbing the local people and tourists.
Apart from the noise pollution, there were many things wrong with the casino, which was built right on the beach without respecting planning, and was sending smelly waste water directly into the sea, polluting the environment.
A video showing what is suspected to be untreated sewage water from the casino building running directly on to the beach was posted by local environmentalists on social media recently, which may have had some impact on the local authorities' decision.
To add to the reasons for shutting down the casino, the business license used by the Jing Ding Club and Casino was expired, it was used as an online gambling site, the security wasn't good, and the casino goons would fire guns to threaten people, and they also played loud music through the night until dawn, keeping everyone awake.
Sihanoukville administration in collaboration with the Koh Rong Sanleom authority went twice to order the owner to close the business before it was shut down by officials.

Many karma points to those girls.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

A casino on the beach on the islands. I had no idea that it was so bad down there. Unbelievable what the authorities have allowed.

Apart from the noise pollution.
Does look like original Martin Audio equipment.
Even discontinued speakers like these pack a punch and can be heared for miles across the sea.
Eager to know what is in the flight case (no latches) on stage containing amps and stuff.
Wonder where this equipment comes from.
But all of this is not really important, shutting down place and sorting out sewage problem is.

What fantastic news, although I doubt it will stop the Chinese from building more on the islands in the near future, and ruining them for everybody too

Polluting Chinese Casino in Cambodia Ordered Closed
2019-03-13
Officials in Cambodia’s Sihanoukville province have ordered a Chinese casino and hotel accused of ruining the beauty of a local beach by pouring raw sewage into the sea to close following complaints by area residents and inspections by authorities.
The Jin Ding Hotel and Casino, which registered to do business on Koh Rong Samloem Island in April 2018 and opened only recently, had become a major cause of concern for island residents, who feared damage to the environment and a drop in tourist business.
In a letter seen on Wednesday by RFA’s Khmer Service, provincial authorities said Jin Ding must now shut down, citing multiple violations by the casino of the law, the playing of loud music on the beach, and the promotion of illegal online betting games.
On one occasion, the casino’s security chief had also fired gunshots into the air, the letter ordering the casino’s closing said.
Speaking to RFA on March 13, Leang Sopheary--a youth volunteer who visited the island in February and posted photos of the polluted water on social media--called on authorities to examine larger areas of beachfront now also under threat.
“I want them to come here and prevent the draining of polluted water into the sea before it’s too late, so that the sea remains clean,” she said.
Other local businesses and entertainment centers should meanwhile be inspected for violations, environmental activist Thorn Ratha said, also speaking to RFA on Wednesday. And the owner of the Jin Ding Casino should now be brought to court to face charges, he said.
“There should also be an investigation into any government official who might have been involved in these [violations] and allowed them to happen for years,” he said.

Provincial Authorities Fight Back
Casinos [in Sihanoukville province] are springing up quicker than local officials can draw up regulations. But in the case of the Jin Ding, they have made a stand. Provincial authority spokesman Y Thearin told the Phnom Penh Post this week that 77 families on the island had filed complaints about the casino, which had been told to close by March 22.
Cambodian National Research Organisation director Sok Sokhom told The Post he applauded the decision and hoped similar measures would “rain down on other casinos who fail to abide by the law.”
“Implement measures like this strictly as a warning to owners of other hotels and buildings,” he said. “I also ask the authority to inspect all casinos, guesthouses, hotels, and important sites in order to prevent them doing as they please.”

The Chinese are turning the place into a landfill because the RGC gave them the green light. The Chinese destroying everything is just the most visible symptom of a very serious disease.jaynewcastle wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 12:26 am What fantastic news, although I doubt it will stop the Chinese from building more on the islands in the near future, and ruining them for everybody too
FYI, the islands are already looking pretty sad. Puerto Rico still looks nicer than any Cambodian islands. Even after hurricane Maria

CEO News has not seen the official document, but reports say that the Jin Ding Casino is due to be closed on 22 March. If anyone goes by that area after that date, it would be interesting to confirm that it has in fact been closed.
