Yes, your memory is pretty selectively asinine.fax wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 5:42 pm My memory is selectively photogenic. For example I remember every embarrassing post you've written online but I don't remember what I ate for breakfast this morning.
I remember every ABA e-cash code I've used the past month but I can't remember the PIN for my credit card.
I am immune to remembering my parents' birthdays. Every year I tell myself this is the last time, and then I forget it again.

No, you consistently write bollocks. I remember it well.

Great word "bollocks". Goes back as far as the 13/14th century.
We should keep more of these old words in the English language instead of PCing them.

Re: How is your memory.
My memories only go back to after I emigrated and started learning English.
It’s pretty embarrassing to have uncles tell me about how they practically raised me as a baby and small kid.
And just a big blank in my brain. I have no memories of them at all despite being so close to them before.

Why are you here? It takes all kinds. You either like interacting with people and ideas or you just prefer to criticize others. Or perhaps you would prefer to sit in a forum with no posts at all? Which is it? At least I don't go around insulting people and criticizing/questioning everything they say. But if it makes you happy ..

Apparently, scientists have discovered that every time you recall a memory, you're not remembering the actual event. That's not how memory works. You're remembering the last time you recalled / replayed that event in your mind. That's why memories get distorted over time.
It's why, when you watch a movie again that you loved as a kid, it looks different and doesn't seem like the same movie. Or read a book. Or visit a place, or do anything as an adult that you did as a child, that's not how you remembered it to be. Yet the movie, book, place or whatever, couldn't have changed. It's your memory of it that has changed, because every time you thought about it, your memory got a little more distorted.
Strange old existence isn't it?

Or is that just your distorted view because you cannot really remember.Jamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 12:04 amyeah exactly true, i was going to mention it but couldnt remember if somebody already had or notxandreu wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 12:02 am Apparently, scientists have discovered that every time you recall a memory, you're not remembering the actual event. Its all bollocks as yor memory of walking into your nans house could be different as the smells of her baking may have changed, the door may have been painted, different time of year and again you are probably taller than when you were a kid.
The basic memory is there but modern reality and change in the area or yourself makes it seem not right.
You are not losing it, you just have more to remember as you accumulate more memories over mounting years.
More info to search through. How many times have you been trying to recall something and later that day or evening it pops up in your head or you wake up when the penny drops . Maybe that is just me.

I remember a copper once asking me if I had any pot in the car and I said 'Dunno, short term memory loss.' No sense of humour that cop.
