Thieving cop gang

Post by newkidontheblock »

Missus was pretty steamed yesterday.

She had just gotten on her moto to go to the market when she got pulled over by a moto cop a few doors down from her house for not (not yet) wearing a helmet. After being stopped, she was promptly surrounded by 4 or 5 of them blocking off all paths of escape. One cop physically dragged her moto to the side. She then asked if she could pay a fine and be let go. They refused and wrote her an official ticket for $15,000 Riel that could only be paid at the Sangkat office.

They then called another moto cop to escort her to the Sangkat office. That cop first demanded she give him her cell phone so she wouldn’t run away. She never carries a cell phone to the market. He then demanded that she give him expensive jewelry. She replied she doesn’t wear jewelry. He then took her umbrella for collateral. It was raining.

He then took her in the opposite direction down some shady roads. On the way he told her he’d let her go if she gave him $50. She bargained it down to $10. He forced her to wrap the ticket around the cash before handing it to him.

During the stop, the cops where openly discussing how they weren’t making enough money bunching up together. One suggested that they split up down different streets to make more money.

Never once did they mention making motorists wear helmets or public safety.

The public was just someone to be fleeced.

Missus had seen this in a video posted on Facebook and didn’t believe it. Now she’s a believer.

What was the problem, that the police did not take a bribe? Put your helmet on. What do you mean "not yet". Wasn't she driving?

Traffic police get 75% of the fine. Of course they'll discuss how to make money. It's their incentive.

Where was it raining yesterday?

Sorry, no sympathy from me.

That is how it works. Not only that.

Police and criminals work together. So police are criminals.

If you get robbed, and the robbers are working with the police. When you report it to the police, you will have to pay money, but the police wont do anything about it. They get money from the robbers and money from the victims.

Many drug dealers work with the police. While they continue to pay the police, they can continue supply drugs.

The people who run brothels with underage girls also work with the police. If a foreigner gets caught with an underage girl, they can extort a huge amount of money, but the brothels continue to run.

Police dont care about crime, they just care about getting money.

There is a difference in what happens from province to province and town to town. It is not the same everywhere. The scams are much greater in places where there are a lot of foreigners.

Good question, I haven't noticed any rain in about two months and there hasn't been any in the forecasts.

Umm, for not wearing a helmet you can always pay on the spot. Receipts issued while you wait. Where TF was this racket? How very efficient, making everyone have to go to Sangkat for 15000 fine? Absurd. Something smells!

Yep, it smells. New police racket. She saw someone post the video on the internet but didn’t believe it to be true.

No allowed to pay on the spot. Police escort to Sangkat (going in the wrong direction), then asking for the big payout to be let go.

Efficient? No. A new creative way of extorting more, yes.

Don't be a dick. The problem is the police not issuing a proper ticket or assessing a proper fine but instead demanding a phone and jewelry and then ordering a solo female to drive to secluded area and demanding $50 from her.

She kinda brought this on herself man. When was she gonna put her helmet on? Once she reached the market? If she had worn her helmet right when she started her motorcycle, she would've never been in that situation.

Look up stories about LAPD. Biggest gang in all of California. Bigger than MS13, Crips, and Bloods. At least she didn't get her ass whooped and cops didn't sprinkle some crack over her unconscious body. Gotta look at the bright side.

Cops will be cops, no matter your location.

Do you believe her story?

I mean including all the details? Because some things don't add up easily in the story.

Speaking of thieving cops, why don't they fleece foreigners who jaywalk and who throw cigarette butts on the ground? That's an easy way to make money.
