Sihanoukville hotel suggestion

Post by Jlucas »

My girlfriend and I have booked a trip to Cambodia in may to be a part of my father's funeral 100 celebration and having a hard time with the hotel selection

I'd like to stay somewhere that isn't Chinese run .. or owned ..

We want to support the Khmer economy as much as possible during our visit including our accommodations

I'd like to spend about 100 a night so I think my options are fairly open however-
when I try and avoid all the Chinese establishments how does that effect my choices ?

My girlfriend suggested " the independence "
My sister suggested the "sunshine bay hotel"

Both suggestions are outside my preferred budget but I am fairly flexible if I cant come up with any help here

Thanks for any help you can provide

I dont care about being near Chinese people Haha dont get me wrong ... farthest from that

I just want to support the local community and stay somewhere that benefits the local Khmer community than some Chinese super hotel conglomerate

I'm just saddened by the foreign development and want to try my best to not support it

Is that a silly idea ? Is it basically unavoidable at this point ?

Thanks divers has come recommended a couple times

I'm not looking for the cheapest rather trying to find out where is the best local place to stay...

I dont mind going to the "luxury" hotels
I'm just not sure if that is exactly what I'm trying to avoid

https://www.booking.com/hotel/kh/patcho ... house.html

Patchouly. Owners are a friendly French-khmer couple. Small place, very nice. Has a little pool, restaurant, and garden bar.

A plug for the restaurant at Patchouly while I'm here. Minoha restaurant from Serendipidity beach has relocated here. Same owner I think. Anyway reasonable price western-asian food in a nice setting by the pool.
