Cambodia International Schools pay and hours

Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

I have previously taught at international schools in Thailand and for ACE in Phnom Penh. The problem is that even though I'm healthy, active reasonably computer literate and still teaching in Australia, I'm of senior vintage (67). There's no set retirement age in Australia and many teachers work until their 70s. I'm thinking of spending time in Cambodia again. I wonder though what my chances of getting a job would be as I'm sure most schools prefer younger teachers?
I'm a 50+ white Australian, and a contracted school teacher in Phnom Penh (for our personal income while we run our social enterprise), and have 20 years teaching experience with qualifications in Australia.

I'll save you some pain by being blunt - you will find it very difficult to find a full-time paying job here, especially at the bigger named schools. If you're willing to teach for almost no income, you'd be welcome.

Sorry, but I figured you'd want an honest response.

Thanks for the advice I agree that most probably it will be difficult at an international school. I could still probably get some work at ACE again and their pay is okay.
