Fire Breaks Out in Takeo Nightclub in Full Swing

Takeo, Cambodia News: In the evening of February 23, 2019, a busy Saturday night at 10:50 pm, a fire broke out at Chum Met 168 nightclub, in Snor village, Sangkat Rokar Knong, Don Keo city, Takeo. The owners were identified as San Eang, 49-year-old and his wife, Chea Sreymom, 49-year-old.

Fire damage costs were estimated to be around US$20,000, for air conditioners, band instruments, sofas and furniture,a few phones, plus lighting and bar equipment.The police called ten firetrucks to the scene and the fire was completely extinguished in 1 hour.

The cause of the fire has not been announced officially, but faulty electric wiring is often the origin of nightclub fires in Cambodia, when arson is not suspected.

seem to have been quite a few club and ktv fires recently.....

I do not think it is recent. this happens all time (remember the big fire in Siem Reap, killing a number of people). Shitty wiring, no safety equipment or procedures, etc.

The reason I avoid these death traps.
